A little crude, but how about:
-set a screen saver for 10mins
-set a crontab from every min (or whatever) with a script that checks qdbus,
if true run gnome-session-save --kill.
again, crude, but I think it will do the trick.
ex: qdbus org.gnome.ScreenSaver /ScreenSaver
org.gnome.ScreenSaver.GetActive
