RE: How to transfer files between computers on a network

Well, it certainly depends on the ulilization!

If you have a switched Cisco (for instance) 1000GB interface backend network where you can isolate your packets, NFS is even stable for web systems. I have seen extensive stable utilizations for backup data, portal servers, and tunnels in conjunction with NFS.

Now SAMBA and NFS - eek!

rsync, ssh scp scripted for say 4 servers to share and write to the same constantly available data is not always the best solution.
I have seen more than a few admin and developers learn rsync and use it EVERYWHERE!

I have seen scp used where a bash, perl or php back application with a database would be easier to install and use.
So, just with everything we do, WHAT IS the full USE? That determines a s-hexy solution, does it not?
