I run a vbox in sidux. The modules for ose are built into the kernel
already so its just a matter of apt-get the package itself on install.
Very easy to set up and maintain. I use for all sorts of iso testing
and actual vbox installs. I have XP in vbox and runs like a champ.
I would recommend saving your data files only, bookmarks and such from
XP. If you have the oem disks its easier to install XP that way since
it will load drivers based on what hardware the vbox is supplying.
Your eula allows a one machine install so its legit. As far as what to
install with XP keep it to a minimum. Just those things that are not
supported by linux. It is easy to switch between host and guest to run
apps as necessary. Currently the only hitches in ose is non support of
USB and no 3d acceleration yet. So if not a gamer than no big deal. If
a gamer than a dual boot is a better option instead. I get around the
USB issue by having a shared folder setup so the XP side can just get
the files easily. The host does all the USB work.
