The retail package has some amount of installation support plus a couple
of printed manuals. That, and everything is on a DVD (or a bunch of
CDs) to save bandwidth.
There are also a few proprietary apps but honestly, I'm not sure what
anymore. Most of the non-OSS ones are still available via the openSUSE
distribution channels.
Personally, I've used both. For my own use, I have the retail version.
For some friends, I've burned the network boot cd and they install and
update via the Internet (actually, they install via NFS from my DVD but
everything is network based).
