There are a few extra steps to this.

* You might be missing some underlying libraries. I needed gsfonts-x11
(I use Ubuntu).
* Next, in addition to copying libflashplayer.so into
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, you also need to put flashplayer.xpt into
/usr/lib/mozilla/components.
