It's a really good VPN solution and, like Hamachi, is cross-platform, so
you can use it in linux and windows. On the flipside, while Hamachi is
limited only to the UDP protocol, OpenVPN supports UDP and TCP, with UDP
being the default transport layer. Encryption is about on par, and it's
possible to use OpenVPN to fully secure wireless connections as well.
OpenVPN can be configured in the event of having a dynamic IP. It has
the ability to be used in one of two modes: tunneled or bridged. The
advantage there is that a tunnel isn't as easy to branch over to a full
network as bridge mode is (for connecting 2 or more remote lans), but
YMMV. Good luck.
