http://openvpn.net It's a really good VPN solution and, like Hamachi, is cross-platform, so you can use it in linux and windows. On the flipside, while Hamachi is limited only to the UDP protocol, OpenVPN supports UDP and TCP, with UDP being the default transport layer. Encryption is about on par, and it's possible to use OpenVPN to fully secure wireless connections as well. OpenVPN can be configured in the event of having a dynamic IP. It has the ability to be used in one of two modes: tunneled or bridged. The advantage there is that a tunnel isn't as easy to branch over to a full network as bridge mode is (for connecting 2 or more remote lans), but YMMV. Good luck. -Scott chip33az@netscape.net wrote: > situationalawareness@gmail.com wrote: >> OpenVPN, perhaps? >> >> On 12/7/06, chip33az@netscape.net wrote: >> >>> My girlfriend took a job in Tucson and I've been thinking of ways to >>> extend my network to her apartment.
