Subject: Re: Deru
It's possible to get qwest DSL without Qwest phone line. This service is called naked DSL from most providers that support it(qwest, bellsouth i think). I have had naked DSL with Qwest in New Mexico, but was using "Qwest.net" ISP service, instead of the MSN junk.

You will have to call multiple times, and speak with many people to get this service, as it seems customer support is either told not to offer as it takes a cut from their MSN service, or maybe their CS could care less...havent figured that one out yet.

So, it is possible to run Qwest DSL without a Qwest phone line, and without MSN(if thats your purpose), but it can be a real pain to get someone in Sales or CS that is familiar with the plan. Be prepared for some frustration.

You need a line from Qwest ( I think there are one or two places in the
Valley where you can get a line from someone other than Qwest, but mostly
it's Qwest ). You will have to pay Qwest monthly for that line.

Like Deutsche Telekom, if you've used Qwest, you've had bad experiences
with Qwest.

The DSL and telephone can run at the same time. The DSL connection comes
with some filters that will filter out the DSL noise. It works quite well.

There are off and on rumors of ways to only pay for a DSL connection and
not pay Qwest for a phone line. I'm not sure how to do that. Qwest has
told me that such a thing is possible, but I've heard several people say
Qwest won't let them do it, even if it is possible.
