Subject: Ubuntu install problem
Hello everyone:
I recall a lot of folks raving about Ubuntu, so I decided that the next
time I installed Linux I'd try that. I got a new Abit motherboard to
replace the troublesome Soyo MB in one of my towers, and I've got that
installed and ready to go. The Ubuntu install starts off well. I
configured the network manually because I have static IP's on my
network. I then configured the partitions manually because there are
two existing partitions I want to reformat and use for root and home.
It creates the partitions (type is ext3) and once this is done it has a
blue screen and stops responding. I CAN get to the "Busy Box" console
by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2, and can do a few operations there. A "ps"
shows that parted_server, partman and partman.postinst are still running
- perhaps they're not completing for some reason. From here I can do a
shutdown but I don't know how else to proceed. Any suggestions?

thanks!
Vaughn
