Nope. Just:
$ emerge hardened-sources
and configure and compile the kernel as usual. You can have multiple kernels
available to choose from at boot.
cp /usr/src/_gentoo-sources_/.config /usr/src/_hardened-sources_/
$ make oldconfig
$ make && make modules_install
$ cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/2.6.x-xxxxxxxx
adjust boot loader settings.
