Can you elaborate on PCs and Software? You mentioned the web server is Debian.
Is Firefox on this Debian box? You also mentioned you can access output normally
with IE. Is IE installed via cxoffice or is it a different M$ box accessing the
web-server over the network?

My presumption is that Firefox is on the Apache box and you're trying to
access this PHP file by filename vs. through the web server. If this is the case,
you want to verify http://localhost/index.php is in Firefox's address bar vs.
/var/www/_whatever_/htdocs/index.php.
