If encrypting and signing mail had become the standard years ago as Phil
Zimmermann wanted[1] we would not have the problem we have today trying
to decide if an e-mail is authentic or not. P'hishing attacks[2] simply
wouldn't be possible.
There are tools for every e-mail program that make the use of public key
encryption easy.
