??? not sure. I just reformatted with each of the
listed previously with fdisk being the last. Did that
from cdrom running K3.7.

If that is the problem, how do you do that without any
installed os? i.e., running from knoppix. Wife is
'protective' of her 'puter.

She's asleep now, soooo getting to it is impossible at
the moment. Also, with the 'mess' here space wise,
getting it out of her room into or near this machine
is almost impossible. it is 'box decor' here. I am
taking care of a 33+ year friend that is sick and all
his junk is here also.
