My Linux box has two network cards in it. Both use the RTL8139 chipset.
One card connects to my dsl modem and the other connects to my
Windows box. The Windows box has a Linksys LNE100T card in it.
Everything is configured for 100Mbps, but I usually get about a third of
that.
The Linux box is a Pentium 200. Someone told me the RTL cards don't
work well in slow machines like my Linux box because those cards depend
on the CPU to do some of the work that other network cards handle
themselves.
Does this sound right? If so would one of the Intel Pro100 cards be a
better choice?
Thanks
Jim
