Subject: firewire card for miniDV camcorder
We have a miniDV camera, and are having trouble with the firewire
connection,
None of our computers have a firewire port, so we bought a generic 1394
card at Fry's.
dvgrab failed to work with it;
It played the tape for a few seconds and terminated with

"Capture Stopped
0 frames, 0.00 MB
--------
Error: no DV"

I tried using a video capture card (Pinnacle Studio 9 AV/DV)
that had a built-in firewire port along with RCA and S-Video inputs/outputs;
using this card, dvgrab worked nicely.
We decided to return this card since I could not make the onboard analog
video capture work.

The replacement card, a SIIG "1394 Home DV-Kit FireWire" fails with the
same "Error: No DV"
annoyance.

I'm wondering if anybody knows what kind of firewire card works well
with MiniDV camcorders,
specifically a Canon ZR-200,
under Linux.

Thanks in Advance
Eric.

PS: Google, and even the dvgrab/kino website were not helpful with this,
the only thing I learned there was that I wasn't the only person to have
this problem.
