Subject: Best directory from which to unpack packages?
I have a bunch of tarballs that I always like to install, things like games
and various SDL library dependencies that don't come by default in Slackware.
I've never really known the best directory from which to install them so that
all users can use them.

The last time I installed Maelstrom and LBreakout2 and their library
dependencies, something happened that makes me get four instances of them
running when I run them. I moved the tarballs to /tmp, unpacked and installed
them as root. I wonder if I installed them or their associated libraries from
or into the wrong place?

On a related subject, does anyone have experience using Encap when installing
packages? Do you like or dislike it?

Thanks,
Siri Amrit
