tacky 'manufacturers' that really aren't manufacturers but are more like
packagers. I have seen Netgear do this time and time again - I tend to
avoid their products for this very reason.
Good reason for buying from Fry's Electronics or other companies that
have good buyer protection policy for returns

ps - I am not the smart one, I've just been using Linux longer than you
and am using it pretty much all of the time. There are some genuinely
smart people on this list - I try to absorb all I can - perhaps that
makes me smart.
