I had the same thing happen last year. Though not left on 24/7, when
switched on it would soon perform a variety of audio and visual
gymnastics. Shortly thereafter it sparked and produced a highly
impressive flame rivaled only by the time when my old microwave oven
sparked and quite literally blasted a hole through an unsuspecting taco
shell.
My advice is to either not use it anymore or just don't leave it on when
you're not there. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby too.
