Here is what I believe a distro needs to have to be a candidate for the InstallFest.
1. It's been around a while and has good community support either through an active forum on LQ or on the distros website
2. Security updates are available in a timely manner
3. One or more PLUG members use it as their distro of choice
4. It's designed to be installed on the hard drive
Packages from Debian Unstable or Sid (aptly named for the Toy Story neighbor kid that broke toys) are described by the Debian website this way "Packages in unstable . . . may contain problems severe enough to affect the stability of your system. Only experienced users should consider using this distribution." Also, there are *NO* security updates for these packages.
Would you feel comfortable recommending (as the Linux expert in the eyes of someone attending the InstallFest) a distro that has these problems?
