I used a big box - I have several Shuttle SFF boxes here BUT they are
typically too noisy for that use.
I have another SFF box that is cooler looking and quieter (X-Cube by
Aopen)
You really should subscribe to very high traffic MythTV list - these
people all seem to swear by the PVR-350 card - you really need a card
that outputs mpeg2 files so that your processor is free to do other
stuff.
They also frequently reference a small form factor box that is very
small and quiet
