That might be correct. I don't know how putty is configged.

Try that CD. It'll autorun in m$ when you start it up.
You do need to restart the ssh server when you make configuration changes
to it.
This should work on all GNU/Linux boxen, I think:
/etc/init.d/sshd restart
RedHat has something like:
service ssh restart
