The convert program is part of the ImageMagick package. I've used it to
scale directories of image files by means of a shell script.

Make a slideshow? Sort of like a presentation executable?
I use "eye of gnome" (used to be named 'ee' but I think it's 'eog' now). I
can view a large number of images in a single window and it will display
them as a slideshow. I don't know if it will generate a presentation type
slideshow executable (I don't think it does).
