penggy - Allows you to connect to AOL via modem or TCP/IP
Description: Allows you to connect to AOL via modem or TCP/IP
The project aims to be a full AOL client including all known
access methods like DSL, cable, TCP/IP or modem (with the
modem-emulation of linux via /dev/ttyI* ISDN, too).
.
Currently, only TCP/IP and modem is supported.

I thought there was a screen-scraper for AOL mail as well, but don't see
it.

Also, ask her to contact AOL customer support, as a customer, asking for
Linux support and asking why they aren't using their own Netscape[1] browser
rather than exploder. When she does cancel, ask her to mention that it's
explicitly because AOL doesn't support connecting with a Linux box.

AOL thinks its customers don't want Linux support, so doesn't offer it.
I'm told, however, that AOL has had it's software working on Linux for
years and continues to maintain it.

[1] Yeah, yeah, one presumes you've had her on Mozilla or Firefox for some
time anyway ;-).

ciao,

# A Polish friend of mine got an offer for a free account from AOL. The
# login ID was "HELLO" and the passwd "CYMBAL". She says "cymbal" is like
# a Polish word for "sucker". 'Hello sucker', a greeting from AOHell :).
