Subject: SUSE product help
Hi all,

Calling all SUSE experts! :)

I'd like to expand my distro knowledge to include SUSE. However, after
reading their web site, I'm a bit confused on SUSE's product
offerings. I'd like to download a version to install on a local box and
use as both a personal workstation as well as a server (LAMP stuff).

They allow me to download the entire 9.1 distribution from their FTP site,
but this must then be copied to another machine and exported via NFS. Or I
can do the install directly from their FTP site. I'd like to be able to
burn the distro to a CD, which is not possible with this product.

They then offer a an eval DVD which cannot be installed. It a try-then-buy
type of deal.
They finally offer a SUSE personal edition ISO. This would be my choice,
but is this a stripped down version of some kind? I'd like to run some
server stuff (Apache, MySQL, etc).

Basically, I'd to download a free, full-featured version that would offer
no support options. Much like the Redhat versions (before Fedora). For
example, I could download Redhat version 7.x, 8.x, 9.0 for free and it
would be the exact same product as the paid-for version, but I got no support.
Is there a SUSE product like this?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter
