Subject: gentoo passwd question
Hi,

Yet another gentoo question:

I'm was booted up to the live cd, doing a stage 2
install and after doing just about everything shy of
installing lilo i have a weird problem. I can't type
#passwd and start the set password set for root. When
I type #passwd it states: bash: passwd: command not
found.

the only way to get it to work was to ctrl alt f2 and
then type #passwd and it worked. then i tried to
finish up in that window and tried #emerge slocate

and then it said bash: emerge: command not found

so i went back to ctrl alt f1 and emerge worked. any
reason why this happens?
