I just moved down here to Scottsdale for a new job. The problem is that I
am unfamiliar with the local hosting scene and would like to weigh the
option of getting 1U rack space as a replacement for me running all my
stuff through un-censored/server friendly DSL providers.
I am mostly interested in simply keeping my email and web server going.
But would also like to occasionally host a game server for me and my
friends. I guess monthly bandwidth is always the question and I am trying
to decide what I would need as I only currently push about 10 gigs a month
on the current setup. (but would like to be able to do quite a bit more if
I were paying exclusivly to host something like this.) I don't really need
any of the support options, nothing is that critical that I can't work
something out preemptivly as long as I can go in within 24 hours if an
unlikely major catastrophy happened like HDD failure and I can't get
around it from SSH.
You guys have any suggestions on space for something like this? Cheap is
always nice as I am not one of these businesses with a budget to pay for
such things. Just an el-cheapo 1U server running debian with my familys
domains and the occasional goodwill hosting jobby for other non-profit
people/orgs. Nothing too taxing for the pipe.
Thanks,
Mike
