Someone told me a while ago that they will place returned items back on the
shelf (with sticker) up to 2-3 more times. As a result, you will find several
items on the shelves that do have multiple stickers on them.
Perhaps the thought process is the product was tested good before they
received it and most returned products are ok, it was simply a configuration
error or issue on behalf of the first purchaser. I do know if they "test" a
motherboard, its basically, plug it in, see if it posts and call it good
(Well good enough to put back on a shelf).
Needless to say, I don't buy items that have stickers on them or items that
appear to have been previously opened/used. They do stock a lot of extra
product in the back, so if the shelf only has returned items, ask a sales rep
to check the back for a new item.
Also, I make sure I know what I am buying. They do tend to stock more umm..
lower quality items compared to other stores. When your staring at the wall
of motherboards (For example) it might be tempting to save a few bucks -- do
your homework. :)
By doing that and completely ignoring anyone on the sales floor (well atleast
their advise), I have had pretty good luck. I have never dealt with any of
their services or food items, and don't plan to, so can't comment on
those. ;)
Of course, as always, shop around. Fry's is not always the best deal.
