We have one customer who makes every employee sign a waiver which states
that they won't use the internet for personal use. If they are caught
doing so then the employee is terminated immediately. Sounds harsh but
very effective. I have setup several Smoothwall boxes and it seems to
work okay. Another solution is Astaro Security Linux. It costs 390.00
for 10 users and you can install it on pretty much any hardware. It has
more security features built into it than a Smoothwall box will ever
have. We resell the product and it seems to work well. It has built in
features for anti-spam (free) and you can also add anti-virus for mail
and web, web filtering and intrusion protection. The interface is
through an https connection and it also incorporates and update service
where patches are automatically downloaded to the firewall. Application
proxies are also used which gives you a little better protection than
packet filtering. All the major processes are chrooted so there is some
thought with regards to security. It's worth taking a looking at. There

Trouble is, you will be in water just as deep as the horse. ;^)
