I use firefox (built with gtk2) as my primary graphical browser. (My
primary browser is elinks.)
firefox as installed by default is not ready for the whole world in my
opinion. Then again I rarely use it under Windows so maybe it is great
there.
My problems under NetBSD and Linux include using a default install of
firefox:
- no nice wizard or interface for advanced configurations; I can't expect
newbies to edit config files.
- sometimes download prompts are ignored (or reset somehow). Maybe this is
fixed now.
- having more tabs that fit; there is no button to move to left or right
to see othertabs. (Yes, there is a keystroke -- but where is it
documented for newbies?)
- using different versions of firefox (such as with or without gtk2
support) often doesn't work unless you remove files from shared .mozilla
directory.
- it is often suggested that ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/compreg.dat be
"manually" removed on upgrades.
I guess some of this could be fixed.
Any suggestions on great add-ons would be appreciated.
My wife uses firefox also under Linux.
