You are missing something.
The places you are playing with have to do with the properties of the entire
text box entity that contains the text. Here is how to do it:
- Say you have a text box with the words: "This is a test" in it and you want
the words "is a" to be red instead of black.
- Use your mouse (or shift-arrow keys) to highlight the desired words or
letters.
- Click the "Font Color" button on the text properties tool bar. It's the one
to the right of the Bold, Italic and Underline buttons on my setup. Looks
like an "A" with a thick colored line under it.
- Now choose a color from the palette that pops up.
All done!
