Subject: Which memory chips work with Asus A7V8X-X ?

Which is the correct 512-MB memory chip for an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard?

Asus refers me to the memory vendors and of course the memory vendors
refer me right back to Asus.

On the Asus website, I found the following info for this motherboard:
Supports AMD Athlon XP 2700+ 333MHz FSB
DDR400 (PC3200) bandwidth up to 3.2GB/s
(Note: PC3200 Max. to 2 banks only; PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only)

Mwave.com and ZipZoomFly.com each list 20 different memory chips
when I search for Kingston 512. So I emailed each vendor to ask what the
differences are and which to choose and neither responded so I called and
both just referred me back to Asus.

So I called Asus tech support and the tech rep said: "get non-buffered,
non-ECC, pc3200 2 banks 1 stick or fill bank with 2 pc2700s - there are
3 banks or sockets with 184 pin each ..." but he couldn't tell me which of
the various memory options would be correct. Of course, he referred me
back to the memory chip vendors.

So, I called each vendor back again, but neither could give me a definitive
answer. Based on the info from the Asus tech, I think I have narrowed the
choices down to two options at Mwave and one or two at ZipZoom:

At Mwave:
BA19336 KINGSTON KHX2700/512 512MB PC2700 333MHZ CL2 DDR DIMM $89.00
BA08577 KINGSTON KVR333X64C25/512 512MB PC2700 333MHZ CL2.5 DDR DIMM $87.00
The Mwave tech said either would work, but I'm not sure that is correct.

At ZipZoom:
80065-K Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 512MB DDR333 PC2700 $78.00
80037-22 Kingston KVR333X64C25K2/512 512MB Kit DDR333 PC2700 $92.00

The last item says "Kit" and that apparently means it is a "dual-channel"
setup, which I was told would not work. So, is the $78.00 chip a correct
choice?
