I have recently set up a number of Debian boxes with hardware RAID arrays.
I used the 3Ware cards and SATA drives. It works GREAT, the
monitoring/management tools are good, very easy to configure, and
performance is EXCELLENT. I would certainly recommend 3Ware with SATA
drives.
