I personally use DVD+R, which works well with most of my
family and friend's DVD players. My own standalone DVD
player works well with both formats, as do most players
made within the last year or so. Older cheaper players,
like a combo TV/DVD player made a couple of years ago, are
least likely to be compatible with both formats (or any
recordable format at all for that matter). If you want to
make sure that your DVDs will work on all your friend's
players, then your best bet is to get a dual format drive.
