How exactly does apt-get work. Does it like have a central location of all the
getable files and their dependencies while there must also be a list on your
node that tells it what files are on it. Then when you apt-get something it
compares the two lists and gets what isn't on your node. I was hoping that
there is a directory that the files (debs?) are saved to whic I could copy
to /home and then if I do an upgrade I won't have to apt-get them again. For
instanceI am downloading a kernel which is a 2 hour download on my dialup.
I just did locate <known file> and that one appears to be in /usr/share. If
this is so and all apt-geted files are placed in there would a good solution
to my desire be to: after I run 'apt-get install <file>' to
'cp /usr/src /home/usr/src' or 'cp -r /usr/src /home/usr/src'? Or is there
another directory I should do that to?
