Subject: kernel and mosix

Well, I figure that I might as well learn to apply a patch to my kernel so I
downloaded kernel-patch-openmosix_0.3.4-7_i386.deb-> moved it
to /usr/src/linux-2.4.22-> opened konqueror as root-> ran kpackage on it->
and am getting this error in a terminal:

    konsole_grantpty: cannot revoke /dev/ttyp0.
    Reason: Function not implemented
konsole: chownpty failed for device /dev/ptyp0::/dev/ttyp0.
: This means the session can be eavesdroped.
: Make sure konsole_grantpty is installed in
           : /usr/bin/ and setuid root.

I am wondering why I can't unpack kernel-patch-openmosix_0.3.4-7_i386.deb
with kpackage and so I have to open it using ...... uhhhh..... how to open a
deb? Found it! dpkg

And after doing that the output makes it seem that I already had it installed
(from the apt-get I forgot I did):

root@1[linux-2.4.22]# dpkg -i k*
(Reading database ... 107161 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace kernel-patch-openmosix 1:0.3.4-7 (using
kernel-patch-openmosix_0.3.4-7_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement kernel-patch-openmosix ...
Setting up kernel-patch-openmosix (0.3.4-7) ...

Except, does the '1:' mean anything in particular? I suppose it indicates it
is an apt-get file.
     and
Where did the files from the deb package go? Nothing new appeared in the
directory. The content of it (including hidden files) is at (1)
Then I found the silver bullet (http://www.desktop-linux.net/debkernel.htm):
to apply patches to a kernel run 'patch -p1\
< /path/to/kernel/patch' which leaves me with two questions:
1- What is the path to the patch
(the second of which was answered as I typed out the question)

Well, I've decided to upgrade my kernel to 2.6.7 Wish me luck!
