Are you using the packages/tarballs from LTSP directly? I looked at them
and decided that I wanted a more 'prepackaged' solution and grabbed the
ISOs from the K12LTSP project for my office.

The apps in /opt/ltsp/i386 aren't really used beyond login are they? As
part of the login process there is a pivot_root action that changes root
from the /opt/ltsp/i386 to / on the LTSP machine. Once logged in that's
where all the apps run from.

Are you trying to remove the busybox functionality that is usually the
front end to pxe booting? I haven't seen it used much beyond that.

I might be willing to play with some of this provided it doesn't take
too much time from trying to run my own stuff.
