Are you using the packages/tarballs from LTSP directly? I looked at them and decided that I wanted a more 'prepackaged' solution and grabbed the ISOs from the K12LTSP project for my office. Jeremy C. As part of the login process there is a pivot_root action that changes root from the /opt/ltsp/i386 to / on the LTSP machine.
