Not sure what you mean except that, when I use the shell-level "whois"
program, I've learned that it only tries one place by default. Depending on
the domain you're looking for, it may not be registered there. For example,
none of the *.org domains show up when I do this search.
Instead, I google for "whois" and then use just about any of the servers
that are found (usually any of the first several "hits" will do). These do a
more complete job of searching and, if the domain is registered anywhere,
they should be able to find it.
