moin, moin,

several people have asked me about doing more InstallFests. ASULUG has one
later this month. A good opportunity to help out.

ciao,

# A couple of comments about install and game-fest.
#######################################################
# choice of date: Why is the install-fest on Friday?!
#
# We had a lot of trouble choosing a date for install-fest. All the rooms of
# appropriate size in MU have been already booked until the end of May, which
# we did not realize at the time when we first posted an announcement about
# install-fest.
# There were only two dates available for all-day events May 2 and May 21.
# May 2 falls right before the finals and we were running a chance of loosing
# most of you studious people to the curse of final projects and finals
# themselves.
#
#
# Volunteers: we need you!
#
# I know that some of you have already volunteered, but since the planned date
# changed, I will ask you to send me an email again, if you are able to make
# it to the install-fest on May 21.
# We need volunteers for:
# installations
# demos
# room and network setup (on Friday morning) for install-fest
# room and network setup (on Friday morning) for game-fest
# game-fest coordinator
# games
# burning CDs during the install-fest
# preparation of ASULUG branded live CDs
# hardware (extension cords, network cables, a few spare ethernet
# cards, monitors, power supply cables, keyboards, etc)
# other tasks, like advertising, food delivery, etc.
#
# If you would like to volunteer or have any suggestions, please email me at
#
# It is really important for us to know how many people will come and are
# willing to help.
#
# I hope you will all enjoy the install-fest and game-fest! Last year it has
# been a blast. Please, see http://asulug.asu.edu for updates.
# I will be putting up more information on the web page in the next few days.
#
# The event is of course free, although we will gladly accept any donations.
# They will help us in compensating for food and gieaways.
#
# Last, but not least, this event is a joint effort of ASULUG, UNUG and ACM.
# Many thanks to Jim and Badri, as well as all the volunteers from our
# mailing lists and from PLUG.

Monika
