I had an ASUS motherboard eons ago, and it was fine; I might buy one of
those. Due to a couple of posts that mentioned possible driver problems for
MSI, I'm unlikely to buy one of them.

I am STILL having occasional trouble with the Soyo on my other tower, so I
probably won't buy one of those, either. I suppose it could be an overheat
problem, because its BIOS has "anti-burn" protection, and the recent logs
show absolutely no cause for the lockups. (I've put a thermal sensor on the
CPU's heat sink, and the readings don't look bad, but I suppose I need to
unclip it and stick it right on the CPU to get an accurate reading.) I've
added a fan, but I'm still looking at other options.

I agree, Fry's is quite good about taking things back. I just think I can
save a little $$ by going over the internet.

For the time being I intend to use an existing case, and existing drives. I
may add a big drive later. I like to stick to older technology because you
can often get a smokin' deal on drives at Fry's.
