I was wondering something similar but then I realized that I was installing
from a live CD and realized that probably had everything to do with it. I
don't know how you are installing but this is my experience. Whatever distro
you are installing from they have a support website (well, at least users who
will help out) so it may be more appropriate to post your question on their
web page.
