Question about PPP and FTP among others.

Hello all, I just mounted a Red Hat 9.0 server and I'd like to know if somebody can help me.
I'm trying to set a PPP dialing server so the users can get into the server and access their files. The problem is that as far as I know, they will only have shell access. Is there any way to have a FTP-like interface?
Also does anybody knows about a software that works like the Windows Briefcase to do backups?
Finally, I'm having some problems with ACT! and Samba, the main database, that is stored in the server, doesn't allow more than one user at a time, does anybody have experience with this?
