Yes, I think I remember checking it a year ago when I first encountered this
problem. Besides, Mandrake 8 was extremely stable on this system - it would
run for months at a time! I'd just like to move to something newer if I
could.
I did try adding the "apm=off" parameter to the Mandrake 9.1 lilo entry, and
it may have done some good. I was surprised this morning to see that the
system was still up and running after nine hours. So maybe I had it
configured wrong in the Red Hat 9 lilo entry, or maybe it's the difference in
kernels. (Mandrake 9.1 has 2.4.21-0.13 and Red Hat 9 has 2.4.20-8. ) But I
won't trust it's fixed until I've had over 100 hours uptime.
