A couple days ago, I mentioned I had 'unavailable'
partiton on hd. Well, mkfs.ext3 partitioned it
apparently, but it is now 'permission denied' or
something like that.. I even got it to say it wrote to
it once, but on re powerup, data was vapor. Hum.
root@ttyp0[etc]# cat fstab
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
pts /dev/pts devpts mode=0622 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/auto/floppy auto
user,noauto,exec,umask=000 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/auto/cdrom auto user,noauto,exec,ro
0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hde1 /mnt/hde1 vfat
noauto,users,exec,umask=000,uid=knoppix,gid=knoppix 0
0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hde5 /mnt/hde5 ext3 noauto,users,exec 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hde6 none swap defaults 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hde7 /mnt/hde7 auto noauto,users,exec 0 0
hde1 and 5 write/save okay, but 5 is small..intended
for the installed o/s (84% full per Kdiskfree). hde7
was supposed to be the 'home/mystuff' area, but
neither installed nor Knoppix live recognize it for
writing.
I used:
# mkfs.ext3 -t /dev/hde7
for command to make the fs on hde7, what should I have
used? Do I need to setup permissions and how?

just as does every other user.
Nothing more is expected.
Nothing less is acceptable!
