"Burn" an ISO to a hard disk volume?

Is there any way to "burn" an ISO to a partition
on my hard disk, and then force a boot from that
partition to do my install?

I'm assuming I have to burn it to a CD, but since
that's just another ATA volume, I'm wondering if
there might be a clever way to fool the system into
doing it from the hard disk.
