Kevin, I ran that command and here is what came back:
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            8 Jul  6  2003 /dev/cdrom ->
/dev/hdb

I installed a second cd, both are recognized when booting, both are
displayed in my hardware browser, one is hdd the other is hdb. They are
also both showing up in /etc/fstab.

What concerns me is that neither one will boot from the RH7.0 cd, that
one was purchased fron RH when it first came out, so I know that it is a
good cd.

Both cdroms are configured as slaves, one is primary the other
secondary, could be the cable, could be the mobo, I don't know. When I
disconnect the primary slave cdrom, My hda, the boot drive, is not seen
when booting up, even tho I reset hda as a single drive with the jumper.

I am beginning to think that something is wrong on the hardware end,
don't know what else to think.

The mobo is a MicroStrar, about 5 years old with a 450 PII on it,
everything runs fine, no problems, except with those darn cdroms.

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.
