Is the Notes server also the pop/imap server? Can you do pop and imap over
ssl?

If pop/imap is handled by the Notes server you might need to do some
userspace firewall manipulation. Essentially, you'd setup a second IP that
gets forwarded directly to the Notes server and skips the GNU/Linux email
gateway. You'd then leave that IP firewalled. When someone auths for
pop/imap you'd kick off a script that allows their IP to talk to the Notes
server on SMTP for whatever time you want the window to be.
You might also be able to kick off a script to allow them to connect to the
GNU/Linux SMTP server, but I don't know if that feature is available.

That is possible, but there has to be a tie-in between the two servers. I'm
not sure that's available via a Notes server.
