Subject: Linux "Mini" Install Fest for iPAQ: Planning
I was not able to attend the last Install Fest in October. I had signed
up to do iPAQ installs and a few individuals expressed desire to actually
install a distro on their iPAQ. I felt that I let those people down and
indicated that I would help them at some future date.

I am finally tired of my conscience pricking me and am beginning the
planning for such an event.

The first step is to determine how many people want such an install and
who would just want to hang around and watch. This would give me an idea
of what size facility is needed.

At the outset, let me say that I am not arranging for a full Install Fest.
I am only assembling the facilities and equipment needed to install Linux
on iPAQ units. I will not be seeking sponsor giveaways, presenters,
demos, food, t-shirt sales or dancing penguins. I will also not be
seeking space and facilities for installs or problem solving on full size
PCs or even a significant number of notebook computers. I repeat: I seek
only to arrange the needed infrastructure and space to do a few installs
of Linux on iPAQ handhelds.

Now, if someone else wants to do a full Install Fest, or a mini Install
Fest for PCs and combine the event, we can talk about that.

Please email the list or me with your desire to get Linux on your iPAQ,
along with preferences of day of the week, time and location suggestions.
If you are one of the hangers-on that want to watch the process, email
that to me too. Space preference will be given to those that want actual
installs (duh), if space becomes an issue.
