What a difference a couple years makes!

Just over two years ago, I made a business case for Red Hat and SuSE
(and against Debian). Many of you know me as a SuSE-monger and pretty
anti-Debian. Recently, I specified the OS requirements for a new
company, and Debian was the *only* distro that met the requirements.

I still miss the convenience of RH and SuSE, but the cleanliness and
speed of Debian (as well as the fact that it runs on SPARC, HPPA and
Intel) can hardly be beat. I am overcoming the "ease" by reading a ton
of man pages and learning more about how the innards work. Prime
example: SuSE/RH allow for the creating of RAID-1 drives on installation
- Debian does not. But I learned how to convert a system from non-RAID
to RAID and scripted it!!!

So - to answer the original question: I am basing a company's
infrastructure on Debian, with SuSE and Red Hat as alternatives.

Cheers!
