I am not sure why you spent so much time writing out a reply and then
just sent it to me, the rest of the list probaly could have learned
something from the reply.
I do not suggest buying a motherboard before any reviews are out, who
knows what it could have in store for her.
My thought at this point is that she has quite some time until MS
Windows64 for (for AMD) comes out and that she can afford to save her
pennies until that day is at least somewhat emmident. I do not suspect
much will be changed in the new OS from what XP except that a lot of
code will have needed a bit of a rewrite to recompile cleanly.
If you wish to get 5 years out of this machine then why not wait until
Longhorn is at least on the horizon? At this point we do not know at all
what will be supported and what will not.
